During the first world war, le ‘hairy’ Manuel De Sousa from the Province of Bragas near Porto Portugal, was called to join the Allies.


So it’s in France that he established relationships that allowed him after the war to settle there with his wife and his son Antoine, who decided to permanently leave Portugal for Avize.


Because he is regularly praised by the specialized press, obtaining champagnes from De Sousa is an achievement, as the demand is high! It must be said that the vineyard is located on the finest Champagne vineyards and that three fourths of the vineyards are more than 45 years old.


Erick De Sousa has gradually made a conversion to biodynamic:  the vineyard work is done in the respect for nature and the environment to transmit the champagnes finesse and elegance.
